Debasish Panda former financial services secretary was appointed as chairman of the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) by the the government on Friday.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved Panda’s appointment as chairperson of the insurance regulator primarily for a period of three years from the assumption of charge, sources said.
The appointment of IRDAI chairman comes almost 9 months after the opportunity was created following Subhash Chandra Khuntia finishing his term in May last year.
