Seeing a problem with an insurance agency for declining to extend much-needed help to a woman who lost her husband, the state consumer commission guided it to pay her Rs 10 lakh as compensation along with 9% interest onto it for the last a decade.

Vijaya’s husband Venkateswar Reddy had taken an insurance policy with Max Life Insurance for Rs 10 lakh in October 2010 with her as candidate. He previously paid Rs 82,000 as premium for 2010 and Rs 83,000 for 2011.
