DHAKA/LONDON, March 18 (Reuters) – State-possessed Bangladesh Shipping Corp is looking for $22.4 million from its insurer for a cargo ship hit by a rocket in March, government authorities with information on the discussions said, in the major marine insurance claim from the conflict in Ukraine.
The UN’s shipping organization said last week it would make a safe sea hallway for merchant ships and crews stuck in the Black Sea and Sea of Azov, in spite of the fact that shipping industry sources anticipate that progress should be slow. Shots have hit four different vessels lately with one sunk.
Insurance premiums have taken off by more than 100% for voyages to the region since the conflict began. Insurers are watching closely for more claims which will finally increase costs further.
